A lifetime around dogs. A career caring for them.

I’m Dr. Skylar Duck, an emergency veterinarian and lifelong dog person. I grew up on a farm and in my mom’s veterinary clinic, surrounded by dogs, horses, and just about every other animal we could bring home.

Since becoming a veterinarian, I’ve worked in more than 50 hospitals, from everyday vet clinics to emergency and specialty hospitals. Those experiences have shaped how I think about dogs, veterinary care, and what I wish every dog owner knew.

Better lives for dogs start with their people understanding them.

There’s more to caring for a dog than loving them and taking them to the vet when something goes wrong. Understanding their health, behavior, genetics, and needs can help us make better choices, prevent problems, and give our dogs better lives.
